The down jacket is an invention from 1922, when George Finch, dressed just in a down jacket, attempted to summit Mount Everest. Clothing of this type also owes its popularity to mountaineers and athletes, who popularized it in the mid-20th century. Thanks to major clothing chains and fashion houses, the appearance of winter down jackets could be seen not only on the slopes, but also on the street. Down jackets from the end of the last century began to be designed and manufactured using modern technologies, which definitely made them more lightweight. Women's lightweight down jackets from now on had a cutout at the waist, so ladies wearing them could better adjust the garment to their figure. The warmth and thermal comfort provided by down jackets then became synonymous with elegance and ceased to resemble clothing for Himalayans.

In the twenty-first century, thanks to the use of efficient production, almost everyone can afford high-quality winter down jackets. The most important thing in this type of clothing is the right filling. Most often feathers or duck down are used. In more expensive jackets there is often a mixture of goose and duck feathers, and in the most expensive - only goose. Natural materials give the most warmth, insulating our body from the environment. They are lightweight, durable and provide high comfort. Some winter down jackets also have synthetic down. It was designed for the United States Army. Its biggest advantage is the price. Duck down and synthetic down are completely sufficient for most outdoor use, but if you are going to places with extreme temperatures, you should think about goose down, which is about twice as light, with the same degree of insulation. Another important element is the outer layer. Among other things, water resistance will depend on the materials used in it. If you want your jacket not to soak up water, choose a model made of waterproof materials or use the appropriate waterproofing. If you are concerned about heavy rain or snow, you can choose a jacket with synthetic insulation, which additionally dries faster. There are also jackets on sale that combine the properties of a natural insert with a locally added artificial one. In this case, the synthetic down is placed in strategic places exposed to moisture, such as the shoulders or hood.

The appearance of women's lightweight down jackets produced these days does not give the impression of being inflated, as older garments from the last century did. Thick clothing can indeed add a few centimeters, but it is the proportions, not the girth itself, that matters most in the perception of your figure. The right choice of women's lightweight down jacket should not optically widen your dimensions, especially if you choose the right cut.

Men's down jackets, like women's models, are characterized by exceptional thermal insulation. They are wider in the shoulders and slightly straighter in the torso than the ladies' versions. They are perfect for when you spend many hours standing still in the cold. Recommended for activities such as fishing, shooting and camping. Men's down jackets are also great for an outing to the mountains, a trip to the woods or a daily walk in the park with your dog. They are sure to appeal to nature lovers who do not want to give up outdoor activities in winter. MILITARY.EU offers down clothing from proven brands of trekking gear, such as Pentagon, Columbia, Beretta Fjord Nansen, 4F, Under Armour and Texar. They are available in a wide variety of colors and cuts, so that everyone is sure to choose something for themselves. They feature attractive design and fashionable patterns.

We offer in this category a large selection of men's down jackets, which provide thermal comfort and convenience on cold winter days. We believe that you will find something for yourself.
