Varta is a renowned brand originating from Germany, specializing in the production of batteries and rechargeable batteries. Its history dates back to 1887 when it was founded by Adolf Müller in the town of Hagen in Westphalia. 

Origin and beginnings of the brand

Varta was established in Germany under the name AFA (Accumulatoren-Fabrik AFA) and had been focusing on the production of batteries since the late 19th century. Over several decades, the company became one of the main battery suppliers, including for German submarines during World War II. In 1962, the brand was transformed into Varta, which marked a new phase of development and expansion into international markets.

Development and innovations

Varta's history is one of continuous technological advancement. As early as the 1930s, the company introduced innovative solutions in the automotive industry, such as rechargeable batteries. In the following decades, Varta developed technologies enabling the mass production of batteries, which contributed to reducing costs and simplifying the operation in cars and construction machinery. Varta was also present at historical events, such as the Moon landing in 1969 – the brand's batteries powered the camera recording the first steps of man on the Moon's surface.
