Tonsil is a Polish brand specializing in the production of audio equipment, particularly speakers and speaker columns. It is recognized as one of the most recognizable and valued brands in the history of the Polish electroacoustic industry.
Origin and beginnings of the brand
The history of Tonsil dates back to March 1945, when the management of Polish Radio in Poznań established a company producing speakers in Września. The plant was founded on the basis of a small radio engineering workshop, and the first products were made from German material stocks. In the following years, the company changed its name several times, expanding its activities to include the production of microphones, speaker transformers, automation elements, and small power motors. The current name "Tonsil" was adopted in 1960. The first part - "ton" - refers to sound, while the second part refers to the Września tradition of engine production.
