The Saphir brand was founded in 1920 in France, in a laboratory in Faverges, Haute-Savoie region. It was established by the Destagnol family, which from the very beginning emphasized the highest quality of skin care products. As early as 1925, Saphir won a gold medal at the Paris World Exhibition, cementing its position as an innovator and guarantor of tradition and quality.
In the 1950s, Saphir promoted the motto "Saphir beauté santé du cuir" ("Saphir – beauty and health of the skin"), which reflects the brand's philosophy. In the following decades, the company expanded both in the French market and internationally, exporting its products to the United States and Asia. In the 1970s, the brand went through a difficult period, declaring bankruptcy twice. Finally, in 1979, it was acquired by the Avel company, which allowed for its full modernization and global development.
