Mark Ruhla is a historic German watchmaking company with roots dating back to 1862, when Gebrüder Thiel GmbH was founded in the town of Ruhla in Thuringia. Initially, it was involved in the production of mechanical components, and as early as 1892, it introduced the world's first mass-produced pocket watch. Ruhla gained a reputation as a manufacturer of affordable, durable, and simple watches that were widely available and enjoyed great popularity, particularly in East Germany. In 1978, German astronaut Sigmund Jähn took Ruhla watches on a space mission, which was a symbolic success for the brand.
