Origin and beginnings of the brand
The Pitbull brand was founded in 1989 by Volker G. Albishausen and Achim Langer in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The inspiration for the brand was the street culture of Los Angeles, whose climate and aesthetics the founders wanted to bring to Europe. The name and some of the designs referred to the pitbull breed dog owned by Volker.
Development and expansion
Initially, the brand operated in Germany, but as early as 1992, the founders went their separate ways. Volker Albishausen moved to the United States, where he developed the brand in San Diego under the name Pit Bull West Coast. In the USA, the brand began to be strongly associated with the combat sports environment and California culture. Today, it is one of the most recognizable brands in the streetwear and combat sports segment.
Pitbull West Coast clothing is very popular in the combat sports community. It is worn by well-known Polish MMA fighters and trainers such as Michał Materla, Borys Mańkowski, Piotr "Bagi" Bagiński, and Damian Grabowski, who also appeared in the brand's campaigns.
