Ocun is a renowned Czech brand specializing in the production of climbing equipment and clothing for mountain activity enthusiasts. It originates from the Czech Republic and dates back to 1988 when it operated under the name Rock Pillars. Its founder is Pavel Hendrych – a Czech car designer and avid mountaineer. Initially, the company functioned as a small workshop, focusing on the production of innovative climbing harnesses, which Hendrych sewed from straps obtained from military parachutes. A breakthrough was the introduction of polyethylene foam as thigh strap padding, significantly increasing user comfort.
In 1994, a dedicated production company was opened, and four years later, the production of bouldering mats and other accessories began under the Ocun brand. In 2004, the brand adopted the name Ocun, which means sharp-edged rock in Czech and refers to its specialization in precise climbing equipment. In subsequent years, the company acquired the climbing shoe manufacturer Rock Pillars, creating the largest climbing brand in the Czech Republic.
