I used this bottle to filter and drink water from Icelandic rivers. Everything is fine, I'm still doing well, so the filter seems effective. The water didn't take on a plastic smell, but I didn't keep it in the bottle for long, at most a few hours.

Water-to-Go Sugarcane 550 ml Black filter bottle: I filtered about 20 liters of water from both river sources and tap water in South America. I had no health problems and did not notice any effect of the filter on the taste of the water.
