Helikon-Tex Wolfhound Hoodie Jacket - US Woodland

Hooded jacket in US Woodland camouflage, providing effective protection against cold, wind and light rain. Thanks to the use of synthetic Climashield Apex insulation, it guarantees optimal thermal insulation. It has four functional pockets: two classic hip pockets, one external pocket on the chest and one internal pocket. It will be perfect for both longer expeditions and everyday use.

Climashield Apex filling, VersaStretch, Windpack nylon material

The exterior is made from Windpack nylon fabric, enhanced with a Teflon coating for moisture protection. Insulation is provided by a high-quality synthetic Climashield Apex filling with a weight of 67 g/m2, ensuring excellent cold protection, even when completely soaked. Known for its lightweight nature, the insulation also boasts remarkable compressibility. Underarm sections feature VersaStretch fabric, which is both flexible and breathable, significantly enhancing the wearer's comfort.

Four practical pockets

The Wolfhound Hoodie model features four pockets with YKK zippers:

Woodland Camouflage

Woodland, also known as U.S. Woodland or M81, is a classic camouflage pattern introduced to the US Armed Forces in the early 1980s, based on the earlier ERDL camouflage. For over two decades, it remained the standard pattern used by the US military until the end of the first decade of the 21st century. It is characterized by large, irregular patches in shades of green, brown, beige, and black, which provide good camouflage and deformation properties, especially in wooded areas. Thanks to its effectiveness and global recognition, it has spawned numerous variations that have found their way into over 60 uniform formations around the world. The pattern has also had a huge impact on popular culture, shifting from military applications to everyday fashion.

The jacket is exceptionally light and at the same time keeps you warm. The workmanship and materials used are solid. A downside, which you have to get used to, is the women's zipper. I wear it every day at temperatures down to -8 degrees and it works great.

I have mixed feelings about this jacket. When it comes to the workmanship, insulation, design, and practicality – it's really great. Unfortunately, I have concerns about the sizing. I am 170 cm tall and weigh around 75 kg, and theoretically I should choose size S, but in this variant, the jacket is so tight at the bottom that it's impossible to zip up and there is no flexibility. On the other hand, size M is clearly too big. I ultimately chose size M because I really like the product, but due to these issues I can't fully enjoy it.

Without detailed tests, I can only say that the jacket, as is the case with Helikon, is very well made and extremely comfortable. I already have the winter Husky from this brand with the same insulation, so I expect it will work great for autumn days. Thanks to the small transport bag, you can easily take it anywhere with you. After testing it in the field, I will write more, but having already owned four Helikon jackets, I have never been disappointed. I suspect that the material—similarly to the Husky version—may be prone to damage from campfire sparks.

Not counting the Lite version, which I also own, this is the 4th Wolfhound jacket I've bought from Military.eu, so it's a product and a store I really appreciate! I had already bought the Wolfhound jacket with a hood in tiger stripe pattern, and 2 others without a hood. This time I bought it in the US woodland pattern, size M, and as usual, everything is perfect!

Additional comment to my previous review. I've had the jacket for about a month now. Overall, I'm very satisfied, but the jacket lets in strong wind. Apparently, the wind from the Baltic Sea is so strong that even this jacket doesn't provide full protection.

The jacket is exceptionally light, yet keeps you warm. It's made from quality material and is well sewn. The only downside, which you have to get used to, is the women's zipper. I use it every day in frosts as low as -8 degrees and it works great.

The jacket is well-made, lightweight, and provides good insulation against the cold. It works well at temperatures of -5 degrees and in windy conditions, providing comfort. The pockets are additionally insulated. The only downside is the women's zipper – the slider is on the right side.

I had already bought the Wolfhound jacket in the model without a hood and in a different color. This time, I chose the model with a hood in tiger stripe camouflage, and I find the color quite nice. However, I really feel that for the same size L, this model with a hood is a bit bigger. I decided to keep it anyway because in case of very cold weather, I could always put a thick sweater underneath without being uncomfortable, or even my other windhound jacket without a hood. As with the model without a hood, the small storage bag that comes with it can be quite useful when you decide to store the jacket (in luggage when traveling or for summer storage). On the other hand, I find it a bit disappointing that there isn't a drawstring like on the hoodless wolfhound, but just elastic, which we know will become loose and ineffective after a few years. Other than that, it's perfect!

This is already the third jacket of this model that I own. This time I chose the Tiger Stripe pattern. The jacket is well-made and, combined with a fleece, works great during the current frosts.

What a great jacket! When I first unpacked it, I was skeptical because it seemed very thin. I wanted to wear it as an insulating layer under my Pilgrim anorak. This plan worked out perfectly. I wore this combination for a walk at -5 degrees and I was as warmly dressed as if I were wearing a thick winter jacket. The shop itself is also highly recommended. Shipping is very fast and you are informed about every step! 5 stars!!!

This is the best jacket I have owned so far. It is lightweight, warm, and doesn't take up much space. The Climashield really works. Although the material seems delicate, it is quite durable. The jacket is so warm that often just a T-shirt underneath is enough. However, when the perceived temperature is -5/-10 degrees, it starts to feel cold.

The jacket is amazing. It keeps the warmth very well. I only needed a thermal shirt underneath and even at -3°C with wind gusts up to 20 km/h I was very comfortable. Additionally, when folded it takes up little space and can be compressed – that's a big plus! I definitely recommend it!

This is a fairly thin jacket and it feels like you aren't even wearing it, but it keeps you very warm depending on what clothes you wear underneath. It is very light and very well made, with a tailoring that fits the body well and gives it a tactical look. At 186 cm and about 90 kg, size L fits perfectly, neither too tight nor too loose. So far, I have worn it at around -2 to -3 degrees Celsius and it felt fine. I haven't tested it in colder weather yet, but I think for lower temperatures a thicker jacket would be better.

I am very satisfied with this jacket. I bought it for my wife a year ago and she was thrilled, so I decided to get one for myself now since I don’t use typical winter clothes. I chose the Tiger Stripe color, which looked interesting in the pictures even though I usually dress in black. In person, it looks great. I’m glad the promotion convinced me to buy it. Size XL fits perfectly for my height of 176 cm and 95 kg with a slight belly – a sweatshirt fits under the jacket and nothing feels tight. The jacket is very comfortable. The material is new to me, I’ll have to get used to it, but my wife says it’ll be my favorite winter jacket. I honestly recommend it.

The jacket turned out to be quite thin, which initially disappointed me a bit, especially considering it is from the winter jacket segment. Generally, though, I am satisfied with it – in my opinion, it is better suited for autumn and milder winters than for severe frosts. It is extremely light, easy to pack, and doesn't take up much space. Despite being thin, it performs really well in the current mild Polish winters. For example, at today's 10°C, wearing a hoodie underneath and being active, I actually started to sweat – which confirms that the jacket insulates well against the cold but doesn't overheat. Overall, it's a successful purchase, and I can recommend this product, although keep in mind that if someone expects a very warm winter jacket for this price, they might be disappointed – the jacket simply isn't suited for harsh frosts. For an average Polish winter, however, it's sufficient and works well for me.
