Woodland, also referred to as U.S. Woodland or M81, is a time-honored camouflage pattern that was introduced to the US Armed Forces in the early 1980s, originating from the earlier ERDL camouflage design. It served as the standard pattern for the US military for over twenty years, up until the close of the first decade of the 21st century. This pattern is defined by large, irregular patches in shades of green, brown, beige, and black, which offer excellent concealment and deformation properties, particularly in forested environments. Due to its effectiveness and worldwide recognition, it has led to the creation of numerous variations integrated into more than 60 uniform formations globally. The pattern's influence extends beyond military applications, having significantly impacted popular culture and transitioned into everyday fashion.
