Cold Steel Commercial Series Chef's 10" Kitchen Knife

The knife, designed for slicing and chopping, features a Drop-Point blade made of 4116 Cryo Quenched stainless steel. The ergonomically contoured black handle is made from Zy-Ex plastic and covered with Kray-Ex material that is food contact safe, featuring a non-slip texture.

4116 Cryo Quenched stainless steel

The blade is made from 4116 Cryo Quenched stainless steel, treated with cryogenic processing, which enhances its hardness and impact resistance. The steel is corrosion-resistant and easy to sharpen.

Drop-Point blade profile

The Drop-Point blade has a length of 254 mm and a thickness of 2.75 mm. The blade is finished using a satin method, which reduces glare and leaves a uniform, linear finish from processing.

Zy-Ex and Kray-Ex handle

The ergonomically designed handle has a rigid core made from Zy-Ex plastic, increasing durability, and an outer layer of Kray-Ex that is food contact safe. The soft non-slip textured scales enhance grip control.

I was looking for a rather short knife, but when I found this model on Militaria, curiosity won and I decided to buy it. After a few days of use, I admit that it works great, it's perfect for chopping vegetables and fruits, and it also handles meat excellently—what more could you expect from a knife? If someone needs a really large kitchen knife, this is a great option.

The knife is excellent as a tool for chopping and mincing vegetables, but it can also successfully be used for beheading fish, especially carp with a very hard skeleton. Reading the previous comment, I get the impression that some people buy a knife and then don't know what to use it for... I recommend both the store and Cold Steel.

I really appreciate Cold Steel kitchen knives—I already have a whole filleting set. However, with this model I have mixed feelings :-( The 10-inch, extremely wide blade—so far I haven’t found a use for it in the kitchen. It’s huge, it reminds me of a small machete.
