Thermal insulation coefficient R-Value

The model features a thermal insulation coefficient R-Value 6.5, determined in accordance with ASTM F3340-18. This parameter defines the level of insulation from the ground - the higher the value, the more effective the reduction of heat loss.

Interpretation of R-Value used in the outdoor industry:

  • 1.0-2.0 - use in summer conditions (night temperatures above approx. 10 st. C),
  • 2.1-3.5 - spring-summer-autumn use (approx. 0-10 st. C),
  • 3.6-5.0 - cool conditions, around 0 st. C and sub-zero temperatures down to approx. -5 /-10 st. C,
  • 5.1-7.0 - winter use, temperatures below 0 st. C,
  • above 7.0 - winter conditions with increased insulation requirements.

Actual thermal comfort depends on the sleep system (sleeping bag, clothing), ground type and the individual user's resistance to cold.

    This is my second review. I slept in the forest, the temperature was -8 degrees, after closing the tarp it was -5. Initially, I felt a chill on my buttocks from the cold mattress, but before I fell asleep, the mattress warmed up. Throughout the night it protected well against the cold from the ground and I didn't feel cold. Underneath, for better insulation, I placed a 5 mm thick Bundeswehr mat.

    We spent three nights under a tarp with a minimum temperature of 0 degrees. The mattress is very comfortable and provides good insulation from the cold. During testing at home, the insulating foil made some rustling noises, but when sleeping outdoors, it was no longer noticeable. I am very satisfied and definitely recommend it.

    The mattress is very comfortable, lightweight, and when folded it takes up almost no space. It could be a bit wider, but it's still comfortable to sleep on. It provides excellent insulation from a cold floor.

    Light and very comfortable mattress, to my knowledge it has an aluminum layer inside for insulation. The mattress is quite narrow, but its thickness ensures comfort even when sleeping on your side. Whether the R-value is really as high as described—I don't know yet, I'll have to wait until winter. However, at 4 degrees, high humidity and dew it performed without any problems.

    The mattress is light and comfortable, and when folded it takes up very little space. You can easily inflate it by mouth. At first it rustles a bit, but it's not a problem. When inflated it doesn't reach the declared thickness of 8 cm (unless you inflate it very strongly), so I'm not sure if its R-Value is really 6.5—I will check that in the winter. For its price (249 PLN), it's a great choice. If it works well at low temperatures, it will be a serious competitor on the market.
