Buck Knives is an American knife brand with over a century of tradition, known for producing high-quality outdoor and utility knives. Its history is strongly linked to the Buck family, and the brand itself has become synonymous with reliability, innovation, and knife craftsmanship.
Brand Origin
The origins of Buck Knives date back to 1902, when a young blacksmith, Hoyt Buck from Kansas, developed a new method of tempering steel, which allowed blades to retain sharpness longer. He made the first knives by hand, using outdated files as raw material. During World War II, due to a lack of suitable knives for soldiers, Buck began producing handmade blades in the basement of a church in Idaho, where he served as a pastor.
After the war, in 1947, Hoyt and his son Al founded the company "H.H. Buck & Son" in San Diego, California. Initially, production was small, and each knife was made by hand. After Hoyt's death in 1949, the company began to grow under the direction of subsequent generations of the Buck family. In 1961, the enterprise was officially registered as Buck Knives and began mass production and distribution through a network of dealers.
