Wisport Sparrow II 30l Backpack - MAPA
BLACK WEEKS | Final days | Countdown:
A revamped version of the bestselling Sparrow model! The version in camouflage MAPA made of 500D Cordura is a compact survival-military backpack, derived from the popular urban Raven model. The ideal back-fitting shape has been adapted to new uses - the main compartment (about 27 liters) can be fully packed with luggage of this volume. Access is enabled by a zipper that unfastens the flap on three edges.
The MAPA camouflage pattern was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and currently a researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, author of, among other publications, Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools for designing military camouflage (Gdansk 2015). The innovative design, supported by convincing theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of photographs of the terrain, attracted the attention of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as a camouflage pattern for the Dromader system of equipment and uniforms by Maskpol, which is part of the Polish Armaments Group. The system was created for soldiers of the Territorial Defense Army, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a perspective pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace camouflage wz.93. Unfortunately, the MAPA camouflage has not been implemented as an official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army to date.
The most important features of MAPA camouflage in the basic forest variant:
- 6 colors forming layers resembling levels on a map,
- colors optimized for operations in the forests of Central Europe,
- use of the illusion of three-dimensionality and anamorphosis effect,
- biomorphic shapes making the design similar to vegetation,
- strongly contrasting elements imitating flashes of light and shadows,
- deformation of the masked silhouette using macro pattern,
- color noise reproduced by means of a micro pattern.
The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the best contemporary camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn or Finnish M/05. In some respects, it is more advanced than them, and better reproduces the colors found in Central European forests in the period from later spring to early autumn.
New features:
- a wider and longer carry handle moved from the back wall of the backpack to the center of the top of the main compartment,
- in the main compartment, 4 D-rings were sewn on the back wall to allow attachment of additional accessories,
- the mesh pocket in the main compartment has been divided into two smaller zippered pockets,
- now similar to the main compartment, the zipper in the smaller compartment is unzipped to the lower edges of the backpack (previously halfway),
- wider strip covering the main compartment zipper,
- trim covering the zipper of the smaller compartment (previously none),
- slats covering the zipper of the flat front pocket (previously missing),
- upgraded organizer located in the smaller compartment,
- covers of the profiled carrying system (including the shoulder straps on the inside) made of compacted, non-hooking material.
The flap has a flat pocket the size of the main compartment and about 5 cm thick - enough to hold maps, documents and even a small laptop. On the front of the flap is a small flat pocket.
Inside, the backpack has a clip for the hydration system's tank, a hole to lead the hose out, and two handles (one each on the brace) for attaching it.
The front, bottom and side panels have PALS (inch) webbing sewn on them for the MOLLE strap system (an arrangement of inch webbing sewn every inch). These allow you to carry urgent need equipment items, items too large to fit inside, or extra pockets to the outside of the backpack.
The side walls also each have two, adjustable-length straps fastened with 30 mm fastex buckles. They are used to compress the backpack (reduce its capacity considering the contents) and can be useful for stable attachment of equipment carried outside - a jacket, a tarp, a carimata or even a camouflage net.
The carrying system guarantees comfort and excellent back ventilation, ensuring that the backpack is adequately rigid (Semi Adjustable System Ergonomic Military). The comfort is also influenced by the quick-release profiled shoulder straps of adjustable length, as well as the chest belt and hip belt. At the back there is a special tunnel designed for a fiberglass frame compatible with the backpack (to be purchased separately).
The backpack comes with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
