Which binoculars to choose?

The choice of appropriate binoculars mainly depends on the purposes for which we intend to use them. It is worth paying attention to several key parameters:

• Magnification (x) – models 8x or 10x are standard, providing an optimal compromise between image stability and observation range. Higher magnifications (12x, 15x) are better for observing distant objects but may make it difficult to maintain a stable image.
• Objective diameter (mm) – objectives with a diameter of 40-42 mm offer versatile applications. Larger diameters (50 mm and above) are recommended for observations in low-light conditions, such as astronomical observations or twilight observations.
• Prism type – Roof prism is characterized by its compact design and low weight, making it an ideal choice for tourists. Porro prism provides higher image quality at a lower price, excellently suited for nature observations.
• Water resistance – for use in harsh weather conditions, waterproof binoculars are recommended. Nitrogen-filled models effectively prevent internal lens fogging.
