I think this is a great version of the Opinel, especially because the handle doesn’t swell like the beech wood one. It works perfectly in the kitchen for slicing small items—not for bones—but I am very satisfied and also recommend it.
Remarkably lightweight folding knife from the Slim series, featuring a 10-centimeter locking blade. A timeless piece crafted by a French manufacturer with a tradition spanning over a century.
The blade, fashioned with a Trailing Point profile, is constructed from Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel and boasts a high-gloss finish. It features a flat-full grind nearing a zero-grind, which, along with the blade's slenderness, offers exceptional cutting performance. Perfect for filleting tasks.
Knife opening is facilitated by a notch on the blade, akin to Victorinox pocket knives. In the open position, the blade is secured by the Viroblock, patented in 1955. This steel ring on the handle aligns with the blade's axis of rotation. Upon opening, it rotates a few degrees, covering the blade slot in the handle, restricting any movement of the blade. The same system secures the knife against accidental opening when folded.
The handle, made from African Padauk wood, is treated with a clear, abrasion-resistant lacquer. Ergonomically designed, it ensures a firm, stable grip. Its adaptability for modifications is an added benefit. The simplest modification is drilling a hole at the handle's rear for a safety cord. Custom textures, carvings, and stains are also possible.

Opinel is a French brand with a rich history dating back to 1890, originating in the Savoy region. Its creator, Joseph Opinel, designed the first pocket knife, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the company developed the Virobloc locking mechanism, later modernized, which remains a distinctive feature of its products to this day. In 1985, the brand was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum, which included one of Opinel's models in its list of the 100 best-designed objects in the world. The company's products also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production is carried out in Chambery with care for the environment – the wood is sourced from French forests and the resulting waste is used to heat the production facilities. The range includes folding tools, kitchen utensils, cutlery, and whetstones, which have become synonymous with durability, simplicity, and the French lifestyle.

The knife is long and slender, with a wooden handle that seems to dominate over the blade. Very practical, not too small, yet lightweight. The shape of the blade makes it resemble a handy scalpel. For me, the blade is a bit too thin, but that's probably what the manufacturer intended. It cuts very precisely. It's not suitable for chopping down trees, but for other uses, it works great. The only downside is the slightly stiff locking ring. I recommend it to anyone considering a purchase. After the changes in the shape and color of the handle, it looks exceptionally impressive.

This is my first Opinel knife, but I will definitely buy another one. It is very sharp and pleasant to use.

The charm lies in its simplicity – everything is perfectly matched, the knife is exceptionally sharp and extremely aesthetic. My next purchase will be the Carbon no.8.

The knife is very good – exceptionally sharp and comfortable to use. Unfortunately, this sharpness is also a downside, because I have already cut myself a few times just by accidentally touching the blade or tip, even without much pressure. The locking mechanism is also a minus – the rotating ring is quite smooth and tight, and with dry skin on my fingers, it is difficult to operate. That's why it's easier to turn it with gloves, so I probably won't use it every day, but rather keep it as a display piece.

Excellent version of the Opinel, I definitely recommend it. It isn’t as sharp as the carbon blade models, but it’s resistant to rust.

The Opinel brand is always a guarantee of sharpness, and this case is no different – the knife is sturdy, very sharp, and works great for cutting food. I honestly recommend it.

A very pleasant little knife, works great for preparing meals and simple tasks. It looks elegant.

I bought this knife mainly to use for preparing food while camping, on a boat, or when fishing. It's light and well-sharpened. The long blade allows you to cut bread easily, and its shape lets you use the entire cutting surface. For heavier tasks, I suggest choosing the classic Opinel.

This brand has never disappointed me. The knife fits perfectly in the hand, which makes precise work much more enjoyable and easier. The blade is very sharp, and the steel is resistant to various types of corrosion. It is suitable for everyday carry, as well as camping or home use. I haven’t found anything better at this price. I recommend it to everyone.
