Wisport Wildcat 65 l Backpack - MAPA

This 65-liter military backpack is crafted by Wrocław-based company Wisport, in collaboration with the Special Commandos Unit (previously known as the 1st Special Commando Regiment) from Lubliniec. Modeled after the renowned Racoon backpacks with 45 and 65-liter options, it strikes a balance between the load's capacity and weight and the carrier's mobility. Constructed from durable 1000D Cordura in MAPA camouflage, it merges substantial volume with practical functionality and carrying comfort.

The backpack is made of abrasion-resistant 1000D Cordura, additionally reinforced with bar-tacked seams. This material is characterized by high resistance to mechanical damage such as abrasions or tears, which significantly increases the backpack's durability in field conditions.

65-liter main compartment can be divided into two parts – upper (approx. 2/3) and lower (approx. 1/3). An internal drawstring collar prevents the contents from shifting and stabilizes the load. Access to the compartment is possible from the top, front and bottom through a detachable bottom, which greatly facilitates unpacking. In the lower part, on the side of the back, there is a flat pocket for stable carrying of a radio station. Above it is a mounting point for a hydration system bag and a special opening for a tube or antenna. The opening is protected against water ingress into the backpack.

Additional pockets for documents and maps, as well as hydration tube mounts on the shoulder straps, increase the overall functionality of the design. The top lid is detachable and adjustable, equipped with two zippered pockets, and the front has a velcro panel for personalizing the backpack with patches. In total, the backpack offers seven different types of pockets, facilitating gear organization and quick access to the most needed items.

The front features a long pocket with double-sided MOLLE system stitching, enabling its use as an organizer. The backpack includes two detachable side pockets of 9 l each, as well as a rain cover hidden in a Velcro-secured pocket at the bottom of the backpack and helmet straps hidden in a small pocket above the bottom access zipper to the main compartment. Transport handles on the sides and metal D-rings for attachment to ropes or vehicles enhance the set's practicality.

The backpack features an aluminum framework and adjustable carrying system (FAS Plus Ergonomic) designed for prolonged, comfortable carrying of a heavily loaded backpack. It ensures stable adherence to the back and effective relief of the spine and shoulders. The system adjustable in two planes allows precise fitting to the user's height and body shape. Anatomically shaped shoulder straps, a wide hip belt, and a chest strap improve weight distribution, reducing fatigue during walking. The use of reinforcements and framework supports maintaining the proper form of the backpack even when fully loaded. A ventilated back panel increases air circulation and reduces sweating. The system is resistant to intensive use in harsh field conditions. The hip belt can be detached, and the quick-release fastex buckles on the shoulder straps allow for immediate backpack drop.

The model is equipped with certified ITW Nexus and Duraflex buckles and durable Wisport zippers.

The front, sides, and lid are equipped with MOLLE/PALS system straps, allowing for attaching additional gear. The strap and compression strap system enables mounting equipment externally and stabilizes the contents inside the backpack.

The backpack is covered by a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.

The MAPA camouflage pattern was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and currently a researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, the author of, among other publications, Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools for designing military camouflage (Gdańsk 2015). The innovative design, supported by convincing theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of photographs of the terrain, attracted the attention of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as a camouflage pattern for the Dromader system of accouterment and uniforms by Maskpol, which is part of the Polish Armaments Group. The system was created for soldiers of the Territorial Defense Army, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a perspective pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace the wz.93 camouflage. Unfortunately, the MAPA camouflage has not been implemented to date as an official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army.

The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the best contemporary camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn or Finnish M/05. In some respects it is more advanced than them, and also better reproduces the colors found in Central European forests in the period from later spring to early autumn.
