Woodland, also referred to as U.S. Woodland or M81, is a traditional camouflage design introduced to the US Armed Forces in the early 1980s, inspired by the earlier ERDL camouflage. It served as the primary pattern for the US military for over twenty years, up until the end of the 2000s. Notable for its large, irregular patches in green, brown, beige, and black, it provides excellent camouflage and distortion capabilities, especially in forested environments. Its effectiveness and worldwide recognition have led to numerous variations, which have been adopted into more than 60 uniform formations globally. This pattern also significantly influenced popular culture, transitioning from military use to everyday fashion.
