A lightweight military hat in MAPA camouflage, featuring a side mesh panel to enhance air circulation while on hikes.

The hat has webbing sewn around it, ideal for attaching convenient items like insect repellent, camouflage pieces, or a flashlight.

The MAPA camouflage pattern was crafted by Maciej Dojlitko, an alum and current researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. Dojlitko authored, among other works, Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools for designing military camouflage (Gdansk 2015). His avant-garde design, backed by theoretical and experimental evidence, such as computer analysis of thousands of terrain photographs, has garnered attention from experts and military apparel producers. In 2017, MAPA camouflage debuted at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as the camouflage for the Maskpol Dromader system of armor and uniforms, affiliated with the Polish Armament Group. Initially intended for the Territorial Defense Army soldiers, the MAPA pattern was also considered for the entire Polish Armed Forces to potentially replace the wz.93 camouflage. Regrettably, MAPA has not yet been adopted as the Polish Army's official camouflage scheme.

Highlights of the MAPA camouflage in the primary forest variant:
- Six colors creating layers akin to map elevations,
- colors fine-tuned for operations in Central European woodlands,
- utilization of the illusion of three-dimensionality and anamorphosis effect,
- biomorphic forms lending the design a vegetation-like appearance,
- prominent contrasting components mimicking light and shadow flashes,
- masked silhouette distortion via macro patterning,
- color noise rendered through a micro pattern.

The MAPA pattern stands as a compelling alternative to top current camouflage patterns like PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn, or Finnish M/05. In several aspects, it is more advanced and better replicates the shades found in Central European forests from late spring to early autumn.

The fabric used for the hat is a 50/50 blend of soft cotton and durable polyester. This material is lightweight, breathable, and soft to the touch. It boasts high resistance to abrasion and tearing due to the Rip-Stop weave.

The hat is offered in two head circumference sizes:
- M 56-58 cm,
- L 58-60 cm.

I have owned and tested several hats from other military brands, but only this model turned out to be the most practical. - it doesn't lose its shape, even when I stuff it rolled up into my pocket - it has a perfectly wide brim that protects against sun, needles, wind, and light drizzle - it provides good air circulation - it maintains the right size In my opinion, although these are just subjective remarks: - the ventilation mesh could be a centimeter shorter in height - a detachable sweatband made of corduroy or terry cloth attached with Velcro would be useful

Good day. I bought the hat to complement my camouflage in this pattern. The model is deep and has green ventilation meshes on the sides. It doesn't have a chin strap, although places for it are prepared. It's also a shame there's no sewn-in wire in the brim, which would allow slight shaping. Helikon CPU brand hats are more comfortable. I have the Helikon in size M and took this one in M as well, but here the hat is a bit too tight. I think the price is too high compared to the quality. Regards
