The name MM-14 is an abbreviation of маскувальний малюнок (maskuvalʹnyy malyunok = camouflage pattern) and the year 2014, when this camouflage was officially approved. The pattern is similar to the American UCP camouflage, but the shades were chosen to match the colors naturally found in Ukraine. The introduction of the MM-14 camouflage pattern was an important part of the Ukrainian army's reform aimed at breaking away from post-Soviet identification. Unofficially, MM14 camouflage is also known as Ukrainian Pixel Camo and Ukrainian Digital Camo.
