Helikon-Tex SFU Next Mk2 Pants PolyCotton Rip-Stop Military Pants - Black

Modern version of the classic SFU Next military trousers. While the design refers to the previous version, it has been comprehensively redesigned in terms of cut and ergonomics. The addition of elastane in the fabric ensures greater flexibility and freedom of movement. They effectively protect against cold, heat, and mechanical injuries while also assisting in silhouette camouflage.

Reinforcements on the knees and buttocks, easy adjustment of the pants to the figure

SFU, often referred to as combat pants, provide high comfort and complete freedom of movement. Key areas prone to abrasion, such as the knees and seat, are reinforced with additional layers of fabric.

The design of the pants does not include any metal elements, except for the waistband adjusters. The button closure, which also covers the fly, ensures reliability. Adjustable drawstrings allow you to adjust the waist circumference without the need for a belt. Additional belt loops with loops at the front allow you to attach equipment such as a tactical lanyard.

8 spacious pockets

The practical layout of eight pockets allows you to conveniently carry all your essential items:

  • two spacious cargo pockets with Velcro closures,
  • two smaller pockets for additional equipment, e.g., a spare magazine,
  • two classic hip pockets,
  • two rear pockets secured with flaps.

The contoured reinforcements on the knees can also be used to insert internal protective pads, increasing the comfort and safety of the user.

I've had these pants for over a month now. Previously, I always used the Pentagon BDU model, so I have a good basis for comparison. Let me mention at the start that I always washed the pants according to the manufacturer's recommendations. I wore them every day for 8-12 hours, so I can say: - The size is chosen well – for longer trips, this increases comfort - Compared to the Pentagon BDU – the proportions at the waist are larger, and the legs sit better on the boots (I'm 170 cm tall, pants size XXL) - The material is thinner than that of the Pentagon, but it's more breathable, which is a plus in summer – in winter, you need to wear thermal underwear (for example, LVL 1 and 2 from Helikon works well) - The ripstop in these pants is almost unnoticeable, and the fabric itself (black color) feels pleasant to the touch - Access to the side thigh pockets (thanks to the Velcro) is much faster than in models with buttons; it's a pity the Velcro is only on the back, not on both sides - Unfortunately, for this price, the pants could be better made – after the first wash, there were already threads sticking out near the pockets - Personally, I don't like buttons on pants; it would be better if there were a metal YKK zipper like in the Pentagon models - The buttons were sewn on so weakly that I had to fix them myself because I already lost one In summary: I give a score of 4/5 – because of the mentioned flaws. Maybe I was just unlucky with the batch, but from the Helikon brand I expected better quality. [Would I buy again?] - Probably yes, but I would also consider other options. It all depends on your needs and use – for me, they work satisfactorily. [Is the price compared to the Pentagon BDU appropriate?] - It's fine.

Nice pants, comfortable and fits well. Useful in mid-season and summer. Bought in size L for 175cm and 85kg. The pockets are numerous enough and deep. I recommend it.

Great pants. This is probably my third pair from FSU. The color doesn't fade for a long time. They can be a bit cold in the winter, but they're perfect for fall and spring. I will definitely buy more.

It was tried and tested for 14 days in the Ugandan bush! There is a small tear in the seam at the back, but that's a minor issue. It's good value for money.

This is already my third pair of Helikon SFU Next Mk2 Pants PolyCotton Rip-Stop, this time in black. With a height of 180 cm and a weight of 85 kg, size L fits perfectly. I usually wear size M in Helikon pants, but for this model a bigger size is better.

Very good pants at an attractive price. The comfort and quality are excellent, and combined with knee pads purchased separately, they become perfect work pants. They are durable and suitable for any tough job! I definitely recommend them!

This is a cheaper, more basic version of Helikon pants. Compared to the UTP model, they have a different, more relaxed cut, fewer pockets, and slightly limited functionality. Instead of a zipper, buttons are used. The pants are worth recommending, but it should be noted that they are more simplified than the more expensive variant. An advantage is also the Rhodesian camouflage.

These are good trousers. The hip pockets retain items better than most and are more of a jeans style round pocked rather than the slash pockets seen on most trousers of this type. Although they could do with being a inch deeper. The cargo pockets have a pro and a con. Pro: They don’t have those stupid inner pockets that catch on things when you try to put stuff in them. Con: It seems that the pocket flaps are on backwards! It is sewn up along the front edge but has Velcro along the back edge. I don’t know why they would do this. It makes it slightly harder to put your hands in and more likely it is for stuff to slip out when you sit down. Put the cargo pocket flaps on the other way. Even better put then the other way and instead of sewing them put in a secure button.

These are some of my favorite pants from this brand, and this is already my second pair, apart from model 93. They are extremely comfortable, look great, and have a fantastic material. A lot of practical pockets. I definitely recommend them.

These Helikon pants are already a classic for me – they are better fitted and at the same time comfortable, with pockets placed reasonably, although I miss the one on the calf from the lower model. The biggest downside – as in every Helikon model – is the poorly sewn buttons; almost every pair has one that falls off quickly. At this price (200-300 PLN), the manufacturer could work on this. If I lose another button, I’ll start posting negative reviews, but I’ll probably still buy another pair anyway.

I never thought I'd ever have to leave a negative review for this series... The new SFU Next Mk2 line – the sizes have been significantly reduced, so I purposely bought a larger size to match the old sizing chart. Now, what used to be XL is somewhere between 2XL and 3XL... It seems that Chinese sizing has won over traditional European sizing. That's only half of the problem, but what Helikon has done with the pants overall is a disaster. The legs are narrower than ever – these pants are only suitable for very slim people who are meticulous about every detail of their figure. If you’re 175 cm tall and weigh over 75 kg, and you go to the gym, forget about getting your calf through the pant leg, not to mention your thighs... The upper part of the pants – crotch, waist – everything is uncomfortable, too short, too shallow, just weird. I’ve been wearing these pants since they came out 15-20 years ago. Now I see that’s over. Time to go back to American products, which stick to one size standard and don’t get this quirky. Let me add that for the past 10 years, my weight and measurements have stayed the same, but the SFU Next Mk2 just don’t work for me anymore.

The pants fit perfectly, are comfortable and durable. The Rip-Stop fabric is resistant to heavy loads, and the many pockets prove to be exceptionally functional. The camouflage looks great outdoors. Definitely worth the price – I recommend them!

The pants are very comfortable and look good. The size matches the chart. They are great both for outdoor outings and for everyday use. I appreciate their durability and high-quality craftsmanship the most.

I chose size XL, as I always do when I buy SFU Next, but these turned out to be at least two sizes too small. It's not just hard to button them up—the button simply can't be fastened at all. I feel very disappointed. The quality seems similar to SFU Next, but I can't wear them. I'm returning them after the weekend.

Very good quality for this price. Enough pockets. Lightweight material, drawstrings at the waist and cuffs. The thigh pockets keep items from falling out. The sizing is spot on.
