A layer of diamond powder is applied to a precision-engineered steel plate with a flawlessly flat surface. The primary benefits of diamond whetstone:
- abrasive tougher than carbides found in alloy steels,
- the surface maintains its shape as it wears,
- doesn't need oil or water for use.

Essential for sharpening blades made from tough, high-alloy steels known for their wear resistance. For less advanced steels, it significantly speeds up the sharpening process.

Gradations:
- Extra Coarse 220 - for restoring a very dull blade edge or reshaping the cutting edge,
- Fine 600 - for mildly dulled blades.
