Scout ropes and paracords

Scout ropes and paracords are versatile and practical pieces of scouting equipment. Paracord ropes and lines will prove useful at gatherings, rallies and scout camps for, among other things, building camping structures, hanging tarps, tying knots and securing equipment. Paracord, or parachute cord, is a special type of thin but strong rope that was originally used in the military.

Paracord lines in scouting are valued for their light weight, load capacity of up to around 250 kg, weather resistance and ease of storage. In a scout camp, such a cord can be used to tie up equipment, hang laundry, build a shelter or make survival bracelets. In emergency situations, paracord will work well as an emergency cord or tow rope. Paracord can be unravelled and its fibres used as sewing thread or fishing line.

Scout ropes and paracords will find use not only on a scout camping trip. They have become very popular with fans of survivalism and bushcraft and other forms of tourism. Paracord, although inconspicuous, is an extremely useful piece of equipment that finds dozens of practical applications.
