Another pair of Helikon pants in my favorite UTP style (this is already my fifth pair). Until now, the high price deterred me, but the promotion convinced me to make the purchase, especially since my size was available. The combination of two fabrics is brilliantly done – in places where the pants need to be flexible, they are stretchy, and in areas exposed to damage, durable DuraCanvas was used. It's a pity that these are the last UTP pants in size XL Long that I could find. Something ends, something begins – time to look for something new…
Helikon Hybrid Outback DuraCanvas Pants - Coyote
Comfortable Outdoor Pants merging a civilian appearance with the practicality of cargo pants. Crafted from two types of fabrics - flexible VersaStretch and durable, abrasion-resistant, and tear-resistant DuraCanvas. These pants are particularly ideal for mountain and hiking excursions, offering exceptional freedom of movement.
Flexible and waterproof material
The hybrid design of the pants offers exceptional mobility, allowing them to contour to the body. The fabric is treated with a teflon-based impregnation, providing durability against weather and dirt. Parts constructed from DuraCanvas may be further waterproofed with wax to enhance water resistance.
Functional pockets
These pants feature a total of six pockets:
- two hip-level pockets with reinforced edges
- two spacious cargo pockets secured with zippers
- two slim pockets secured with Velcro
Waist fastened with Velcro, adjustable legs
The waist features a Velcro panel closure, providing adjustable waist size instead of a traditional button. The leg cuffs are also adjustable with Velcro at the base. Special knee reinforcements permit the insertion of internal protectors.

These are my first Helikon brand pants and I have to admit, the quality makes a very good impression. The adjustment of the legs with Velcro is a great solution. The only downside I have noticed so far are the pockets with Velcro fasteners — the video showed that a phone would fit, but my iPhone 15 in a standard, not too thick case does not fit, which is a shame because I planned to carry it there. Despite this inconvenience, the pants are definitely worth considering, especially at the promotional price. :)

The price-to-quality ratio is fine, although you can catch some good deals that are worth hunting for. I rate the material of the pants as very solid. While working in knee-deep snow, the pants did not get soaked, and they also held up well in drizzling rain. The size matches the chart, and the pant legs are not too wide. The pockets are well placed and practical. The Velcro at the ends of the legs holds firmly and never came loose on its own. The pants do not restrict movement and are comfortable. I will definitely buy another pair when they go on sale.

The pants are quite all right, but they make a noticeable rustling sound when walking. I know it's a matter of the material used, but personally, it bothered me. After all, when walking alone in nature, you want to avoid clothing noises. Another downside is the size, which deviated from what was declared—this happened to me for the first time with Helikon, even though I already have several of their clothes. The total length of the pants was 2 cm less than stated.

Great pants for mountain hikes – sturdy and flexible where needed. The pockets are positioned so they don't get in the way. They provide good protection in light drizzle, wind, and muddy conditions. At -3°C with thermal underwear, they were comfortable. Instead of relying on the size chart, it's better to measure yourself – I’m 196 cm tall with a 95 cm waist and chose L XLong, and they fit perfectly.
-
Great pants. I am 184 cm tall, weigh 88 kg, and size L fits perfectly. There are interesting cuffs at the bottom, which I haven't had on my pants before. Now I see that next time I will also look for this solution. I recommend them.

The pants are extremely comfortable and do not restrict movement during various outdoor activities. The elastic elements are very well designed. Unfortunately, larger smartphones will not fit into the narrow pockets – that's the only downside I've noticed after a month of use.
-
These pants stand out for exceptional functionality, working well both for everyday use and for outdoor trips, especially in the mountains. They don't have back pockets, which is often a drawback in other models, but here it's actually an advantage.
-
The pants are incredibly comfortable and very lightweight. There's no restriction of movement during trekking, hiking, or light workouts at an outdoor gym. The only downside is the fairly small pockets; a larger smartphone won't fit in the long pocket, and while a 0.5L bottle can fit in the zippered pocket, you can't close it. Comfort 10/10, pockets 8/10.

These are my favorite Helikon pants model. The material is comfortable, nothing pinches, with elastic inserts and great wearing comfort. This model stands out for its very ergonomic pocket arrangement—the side zippered ones and additional flapped ones with Velcro are a real hit. Everything is in its place: phone, wallet, house keys, and car keys. I don't need any other bags or fanny packs, I won't lose anything, and it's hard to steal from me. Great purchase! The only downside is the rustling—the forest won’t let you go unnoticed. It's also a pity there's not a wider choice of camouflage. Other than that—fantastic. Worth buying!

The Helikon Hybrid Outback DuraCanvas pants in Ash Grey are made from durable material and feature six practically placed pockets.
-
Very good stretch fabric pants – they work well both for mountain hikes and trips through thickets. Water runs off the material well, and there are enough pockets.

I searched for a long time for pants that wouldn't look like cargo pants but would have their functionality for everyday use. They are discreet, extremely comfortable, have practical pockets, are well sewn and flawless – perfect for everyday wear, cycling or in the mountains; super versatile.
-
This is already my third pair of these pants; they've become my favorite – not only are they practical, but they also look elegant. Even after intensive use, the material shows no signs of wear, and thanks to the lightweight fabric, they are comfortable in summer. The cut and pocket placement are great. For everyday wear, they could be a bit shorter – the legs are longer than standard, but because of that, they fit well over shoes.
-
It's hard to find comfortable pants for someone slightly overweight, but these are perfect for me. The waist adjustment with Velcro means they don't pinch at the hips. They're airy and elastic, a bit rustly, but size XXL fit right away (182 cm, 108 kg). I'm very happy with my purchase.
