Helikon CPU NyCo Rip-Stop Hat - PenCott Badlands
Military hat characterized by its distinctive fit and narrow brim, inspired by British and Australian models. The model features a adjustable circumference with a drawstring cord, which significantly facilitates its fit to the head.
ventilation system
Ventilation holes in the hat are masked mesh tunnels. These tunnels extend up to the top part of the hat, resulting in better air circulation compared to standard ventilation holes. A sweatband on the forehead enhances wearing comfort and prevents sweat buildup on the forehead. It is ideal for use in forest environments, serving as a key element of head camouflage.
velcro panel, accessory tape
On the top of the hat, there is a velcro (hook-and-loop) panel, allowing attachment of identification patches. Around the hat is a tape, enabling the attachment of handy items like insect repellent or camouflage elements.

Camouflage PenCott BadLands
PenCott is an advanced second-generation system of modern digital camouflage patterns developed by the British company Hyde Definition. Its distinctive feature is a multi-layered pattern structure that includes micro, meso, and macro elements.
PenCott BadLands is a camouflage variant designed for use in dry, semi-open areas such as steppes, scrublands, grassy terrain, and hilly transitional zones. It was developed with environments dominated by faded vegetation, dry soil, and variable lighting in mind. The pattern shares the same structure as other PenCott camouflages—combining realistic color noise, a dense micropattern, and contrasting elements that distort the silhouette. The BadLands color palette includes shades of beige, olive, brown, and light green, creating a pattern that blends naturally into transitional and dry landscapes.

Very solidly made product.

The hat is fine. It has a narrow brim, which is an advantage. I recommend picking the XL size because it’s easy to adjust and you can easily wear a balaclava underneath. The sweatband and ventilation holes work moderately. I miss a small pocket, which UF PRO hats, for example, have.

The best hat I’ve seen so far, and I also really like the camouflage. Unfortunately, I had to return it because size L was unavailable.

Helikon, as always, maintains high quality. This is the best-fitting hat style I’ve ever had the chance to wear. I always pick XL, and in winter a thin cap also fits underneath. The Badlands pattern actually works great indoors, in autumn, and during snowless winters.

Great camouflage and design, narrow brim. The hat is exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the XL size turned out to be too small—it should rather be labeled as M.

Great camouflage, solid workmanship, interesting ventilation solution. Unfortunately, size XL is too small and I have to return it.

This is my favorite hat. The Badlands pattern camouflages perfectly for most of the year in Poland—the colors blend ideally with the forest environment, tree bark, soil, or reeds. The brim is smaller, which for me is a huge plus—I had a version with a bigger brim and it was more visible and less comfortable. This boonie hat does its job perfectly and is more discreet.

This is an interesting alternative to classic boonies with a wide brim. It’s somewhat reminiscent of British models. The ventilation is solved in an unusual way, there is a sewn-in sweatband and a very good Badlands camouflage.
