Bushmen Underquilt Glow -12°C Hammock Lining Green/Orange

Underquilt Glow -12°C is an incredibly warm and lightweight underquilt designed for hammocks. It provides excellent insulation against cold temperatures, making it suitable for use even on chilly winter nights. This model is intended for use during three seasons: fall, winter, and spring. With a weight of just 800 grams, it's perfect for those seeking ultralight gear.

The filling consists of 550 g of Polish natural goose down boasting a 750 cuin loft. Its comfort temperature is -12°C, with a limit temperature of -19°C. Goose down is renowned for being the most effective and lightest insulating material, characterized by excellent elasticity, which is crucial for retaining heat.

Notably, the down within the Underquilt Glow is recycled. It is sourced from products where performance standards necessitate replacement. Prior to reuse, the down undergoes rigorous decontamination and cleaning, utilizing biodegradable laundry detergents. The process concludes with clean, disinfected, and dried down being selected and replenished to ensure a 750 cuin loft.

The Underquilt's innovative design allows it to function not only as a sleeping pad , but also as a comfortable sleeping bag, a topquilt, a quilt, or simply as an extra layer of warmth for a sleeping bag. The quilt's special shape maximizes the insulation properties of the down. The construction of down chambers in an H-section design (also known as a warm seam) prevents cold spots, or areas lacking insulation, significantly enhancing the insulation qualities of the sleeping pad.

In the sections covering the chest, shoulders, and head, the Underquilt Glow measures 140 cm wide and features chambers shaped like rectangular pillows. This prevents the down from shifting to the lower areas of the quilt. As a result, the torso and head receive excellent protection. The narrower portion that covers the legs features a special longitudinal chamber shape, ensuring optimal warming and efficient down usage.

The exterior material is ultralight nylon with a micro-ripstop weave, offering optimal durability and breathability. The fabric is dense enough to prevent down from piercing through the material and escaping the chambers, even with prolonged use. It is treated with DWR (Durable Water Repellency), which keeps water from being absorbed by the fabric and down. Water simply beads and rolls off the surface.

One side of the bolster is a dark green, blending seamlessly with natural surroundings. The opposite side is orange for high visibility. The bolster can be used on either side, depending on your immediate needs.

The sub-pad can be easily and quickly adjusted to fit any hammock. The set comes with two 1.25 m expanders equipped with tensioners and self-locking locks. This allows for effortless adjustment even while comfortably lying in the hammock. If not using a hammock and opting to sleep on a flat surface, such as under a tarp, the Underquilt Glow sleeping pad serves as a sleeping bag or topquilt. Simply secure the expanders around the mattress and hook the tensioners to keep the quilt in place.
